Hey there, my fabulous listener, welcome to episode 77 of the Small Business Made Simple Podcast.

Thank you for lending me your ears today – I know you have lots of choices, so I sincerely appreciate me being one of them!

If you’re a first time listener, super super welcome, I am so pleased to have you here.  I am your host Jenn Donovan, and, it’s my job, via this podcast, social media and everywhere else actually, to make your business life simpler.

Business can be lonely and hard and complicated and it’s hardly ever easy, but it should be simple or at least simpler, so that’s my commitment you to on the Small Business Made Simple podcast!

One way I help to make your life simpler is by having a group of like-minded business owners all in one stop.  To ask questions, get answers and enjoy the journey of business! If you haven’t joined the Like Minded Business Owners Facebook Group, then hope over there after this episode and join!  Simply search Like Minded Business Owners in Facebook or come to the show notes for the like.  Show notes are at www.socialmediaandmarketing.com.au/77

As you may or may not know my journey to here as a marketing coaching and mentor, has seen me go from law to retail to here.

I have a massive passion for retail and retailers. It’s a tough gig.

It was when owning a retail store, with my bestie Jo, who never listens to my podcast (because she’s in aged care now and doesn’t need marketing advice!), that I fell in love with marketing and social media and discovered it’s power to grow and expand a business.

So, I was super excited when Mel Robbins agreed to come on my podcast and talk retail!  YAY!

I’ve never meet Mel face to face – but I have heard her speak, I’ve heard her on other podcasts and have been following along on socials for a while.

There’s a message in that for you too – connections, strong connections, can happen online and if you are putting out content that shows you are an expert in your industry, then when people want an expert, you are top of mind!

Social Media and marketing isn’t just for selling – it’s for building connections too!

Now if you’re not in retail, please don’t not listen.  There’s so many business lessons we talk about and perhaps hearing something a different way might be just what you need to help you in your business. I know this is something I often experience – light bulb, forehead slapping moments!

Mel has a business The Lot Co – you’ll find her on all the socials – I’ll include the links in the show notes.

Mel’s customer base includes both retailers and wholesalers and she’s also had a retail shop of her own in the past – so she’s walked the walk and now talks the talk – my kind of person!

Mel is passionate about retail, fashion, and design.  Whether it is interior design, fashion design, product design and more.   She loves to help, mentor, coach and inspire those on the journey to create a brand or retail space, and income from their passion.

Mel loves working with those in business whether it is a small homemade item or fashion brand that has been running for 15 years.

There’s so much gold in this podcast – I can’t wait for you to hear two retail marketers chatting about all things retail.

Massive love coming your way if you do!

See you next week on the podcast for episode 78.  But in the meantime, let’s hang out on social and get social on social – you’ll find me on Instagram, Facebook and my fav LinkedIn.

But whatever you do,

……..remember small business peeps, as my opening song says, there’s no point in dreaming small!
